Counselling Psychologist

Jenny is a very experienced Counselling Psychologist with over 25 years’ experience in working with individuals and couples to improve their mental health, including the last 17 years in private practice (10 of which was at a medical centre). This has involved assessing and treating people for a wide variety of mental health issues.

In private practice Jenny works mostly with older adolescents and adults of all ages, for a wide variety of psychological issues, including: depression, anxiety, stress, grief, relationship difficulties, gambling and other addictions, anger management, trauma, insomnia, self-esteem, assertiveness training, and adjusting to life events and transitions.

Jenny’s therapeutic approach is friendly, positive and compassionate and she is committed to working collaboratively in providing evidence-based treatments so each client can gain insight into understanding themselves, their difficulties and their strengths, and develop strategies to improve their mental health and enhance their wellbeing.

Jenny is registered as a Counselling Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and adopts a client-centered approach. She has completed a Masters of Counselling and Human Services and is trained in providing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Techniques, Solution Focused Therapy, Relationship Counselling, Hypnotherapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy.

Previous work experience includes: assessing and treating the mental health of employees and family members from public and commercial organisations via Employee Assistance Programs; providing assessment and intervention to persons with an Intellectual Disability and their families, critical incident debriefing of Department of Human Services employees, and providing supervision and training to staff.

 

Fees:

Initial 50 minute assessment sessions and subsequent sessions are $200 (Health Care Card Holders’ fees may be negotiated)

Jenny is registered with Medicare and if you have a valid Mental Health Care Plan you are able to claim a rebate per session for 10 sessions at a rate of $93.35.

Jenny is registered with private health providers in Australia and if you have private health insurance extras you may be eligible to claim a rebate.

Referrals are accepted from Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), Victims Assistance Program (VAP), Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal (VOCAT), WorkCover, and Transport Accident Commission (TAC).
