Elsie is an experienced Registered Psychiatric Nurse offering EMDR Therapy and Birth Debriefs.

Over the past 8 years, she has worked in private and public mental health services, in inpatient, community and justice settings, supporting young people and adults with a range of complex mental health issues. She has a Bachelor of Nursing Science and Masters in Mental Health Nursing. For the past 10 years she has also been an active member of the homebirth community, and currently hosts a podcast listening and sharing birth stories from the lived experiences of women and birthing people, their partners and midwives. 

 

Through her work, and roles in the birth world, it is so evident that trauma has the power to shape birth experiences, whilst traumatic birth experiences themselves can also influence how one may parent and flourish on this journey. Ultimately she views trauma as being able to have a trans-generational impact, and this is what she is passionate about helping people to overcome - no matter what stage of life they are in. 

 

Elsie is an empathetic, friendly and non-judgemental professional, who will meet you where you're at, providing trauma informed and client-centred care. Her practice is underpinned by her counselling skills, which are an integral part of psychiatric nursing, and the utilisation of elements from other therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Parts Work.

 

Elsie is a Registered Nurse with AHPRA and a member of the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses. She is currently working towards becoming accredited with EMDRAA (EMDR Association of Australia) and is working towards her Masters of Nurse Practitioner. 

 

Fees: 

 

At this time there are no Medicare rebates specifically for psychological services for Psychiatric Nurses. This also means, you do not need a referral to see Elsie for EMDR. 

 

Each 60 minute session of EMDR is $140 and 90 minutes is $200.
